A number of trainees were involving in organising and running the ‘fête of the public sector’ event on Friday. The event aimed to showcase the range of work that the firm does with the public sector and follows other events, such as the ‘away day’ for our corporate sector, also designed to raise the profile of different parts of the business. The public sector side of the business is immensely varied and covers work across seven main subsector groups: fire authorities; local government; government bodies; education; planning; social housing; and social care. The fête aimed to provide information in a light-hearted and hands-on way, and give an insight into the work done in these sectors. So, amongst the more serious displays were a number of games with a public sector theme, like ‘hook-a-duck’, ‘the map of destiny’ and ‘guess the number of sweets in the jar’. They were all very light-hearted but had some key information about the clients we work with, who our lawyers are, and what we do.
The fête was a great success and well attended by individuals from across the firm. Hopefully, they found it pretty interesting and learned a bit more abour Browne Jacobson’s – even if it was just as a result of hooking rubber ducks out of a paddling pool!
