Browne Jacobson achieves new and improved rankings in Chambers and Legal 500

8 November 2018

Browne Jacobson has improved its status as one of the UK’s leading law firms with an impressive set of rankings in the latest editions of Legal 500 and UK Chambers, two of the definitive and most respected guides to the UK legal profession.

In Legal 500 the firm was top ranked in 30 specialist areas and retained its position as a regional heavyweight in the East Midlands. The firm also improved its rankings for intellectual property in the West Midlands, healthcare and professional negligence in London and employment, commercial property and health in the North West. The firm’s London based corporate & commercial and media & entertainment teams were also ranked for the first time as was its charities and not-for-profit team in the West Midlands.

In Chambers UK the firm maintained its number one UK and regional rankings in a number of key sector specialisms including environment, corporate/M&A, real estate, social housing, court of protection, education, agriculture & rural affairs and private client. It also improved its UK wide ranking for both healthcare and professional discipline.

The directory also identified Shaun McCabe and Jonathan Edwards (banking), Ed Anderson (professional negligence), Michael Mousdale (local government and public procurement) and Gary Oldroyd (professional negligence) as leading individuals for the first time since joining the firm.

Iain Blatherwick, Managing Partner, said:

“This is another set of impressive rankings across the board which reflects the strength in depth of our sector based offering and the commitment to exceptional client service which is central to our ethos as a business.

“It is very encouraging to see a number of colleagues being recognised for their dedication and hard work in their specialist areas including many of our most recently appointed lateral hires.

“We will continue to invest in key sectors as we continue to deliver the best quality legal services to our clients.”

Rankings in Legal 500 and UK Chambers are based on extensive research, including interviews with and feedback from both clients and private practice lawyers, to identify those firms and practitioners who are providing cutting edge and innovative advice to their clients.
