Browne Jacobson’s corporate finance team has advised Gallagher Bassett International (GBI) on its acquisition of CAA (Countrywide Accident Assistance Limited).
CAA is one of the country’s largest motor claims solution companies, specialising in offering FNOL (first notification of loss), accidental damage and third-party repair management, loss recovery, vehicle hire & rental and telematics services to insurers, brokers and commercial clients.
GBI is a global Third Party Claims Administrator and is one of the UK’s largest, employing over 400 staff at seven locations servicing insurer, national and local government, and major commercial clients’ claims handling and risk control needs.
GBI’s Managing Director Nick Bonser said: “We are delighted to welcome CAA to the Gallagher Bassett family. This acquisition will combine GBI’s global claims management expertise with CAA’s market leadership in the motor insurance sector to provide an enhanced service offering to existing and new clients.”
CAA’s Managing Director David Hayward commented: “Joining Gallagher Bassett creates an exciting opportunity to quickly build upon existing successful joint service relationships, with new clients already won in anticipation of the strength of the joint proposition.”
The Browne Jacobson team was led by corporate partner Gavin Cummings, assisted by Associate Vicky Gaskell.
Gavin Cummings added: “We are delighted to act on our first acquisition for Gallagher Basset having worked together on claims handling for many years. Our team incorporated specialist insurance lawyers who were able to assist with understanding Countrywide’s business.”
