Browne Jacobsons Senior Partner and Head of its Business & Professional Risk Practice Derek Bambury won Solicitor of the Year at the Nottinghamshire Law Society Awards 2015.
A professional indemnity expert for over 30 years, Derek specialises in all aspects of professional and institutional default and contentious insolvency matters and has advised clients in relation to litigation in every level of court and tribunal up to and including the Supreme Court and the Privy Council.
Derek joined Browne Jacobson in 1981 and was promoted to the partnership in 1987. From 1998 until 2001 he was the firms Managing Partner before going on to become the firms Senior Partner is 2013.
In 2012 Derek was appointed Counsel in the UK, Commonwealth and Europe to the trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L Madoff Investment Securities LLC and Bernard Madoff, in relation to recovery of investors funds following the collapse of Bernard Madoffs 40bn-plus Ponzi fraud scheme.
