managing the procurement process
the challenge:
NHS Nottingham City needed to procure three new general
practitioner (GP) surgeries and a walk-in health centre for
Nottingham within a short timeframe. The procurement
processes had to be run in tandem, although there was a requirement
to acknowledge their differences. As part of the process, the
organisation wanted to move from contract award to sign off in a
short space of time.
our approach:
We worked with the client’s template documents to identify areas
for improvement that would enable the primary care trust
(PCT) to benefit from the procurement rules, such that they
could obtain maximum commercial benefit from the bids. This
allowed NHS Nottingham City to rely on favourable documents and
contracts, combining uniform and fundamental principles while
respecting scheme differences. We also helped the client to
establish a project team that could oversee the process and
understand each element of it.
the results:
NHS Nottingham City was able to work through the process in
accordance with the timetable, obtaining satisfactory bids and
awarding relevant contracts; a comprehensive suite of documents was
prepared that could be relied on, enabling the PCT project team
them to respond to issues with confidence.
