shared services survey 2008
In 2008 Browne Jacobson set out to investigate the area of
shared services in the public sector. We had recognised an
increasing interest in shared services from our clients and their
desire to understand the bigger picture, share best practice and
seek innovative solutions to make their shared services projects a
success. Like our clients we wanted to understand more and set out
to research attitudes to shared services among the managers
responsible for their delivery.
Our national research encompassed health trusts, local
authorities, social care and education and fire services sectors
across the UK and surveyed senior managers, including Chief
Executives and Heads of Department. It was one of the most
comprehensive surveys ever carried out into shared services and
answered some of key questions currently being debated.
Our report - ‘shared services survey 08’ - set out an overview
of our findings and explored some of the barriers and risks in more
detail as well as offering some ideas and advice on how to over
come them.
