Foundation Trusts
Running time: 10.19 mins
Foundation Trusts are the future for large parts of the NHS, and
their structure is more akin in many ways to the private sector
than the traditional public sector organisations within the
NHS.
Oliver Pritchard explains how foundations trusts differ from
other parts of the NHS and outlines the particular challenges and
issues this causes for the board of directors of a foundation
trust. The interview also includes lessons learnt from the early
foundation trusts, which would be useful for those trusts that are
currently applying and those who will be applying in the near
future as well as Monitor's code of corporate governance and how
the code will be enforced
