Browne Jacobson News
Browne Jacobson announced further growth
Browne Jacobson's end of year results show continued, organic
growth throughout the practice. The firm has nearly quadrupled in
size since 1997, making it one of the fastest growing law firms in
the UK.
Managing partner Brian Smith said 'The strategy that we have
in place for profitable organic growth is beginning to show
through. Investment has remained a key focus for us this year in
terms of our people, IT and our Birmingham and London offices and
the benefits of this are emerging. Our history has always been
organic growth, which we believe demonstrates our inherent cultural
and entrepreneurial strength.
Our consistently strong Nottingham office has enabled growth to
be concentrated in other areas, namely our Birmingham office, which
from a solid insurance practice base has seen a year-on-year
increase in our commercial departments of between 50% and 75%.
Additionally, our London office has increased turnover by 16%.'
The firm's ongoing success can be attributed to the continued
strength of the health and insurance practices for which the firm
has a national reputation alongside an exceptionally strong
performance in the Midlands' corporate, commercial and property
markets.
New clients for the firm have included Tradex Insurance, TK
Maxx, AGA, CCAN (Centre for Contemporary Arts Nottingham),
Wyggeston Hospital and ACSeS, a consortium of local authorities in
the south of the country, following its appointment to the East
Midlands Legal Services Partnership last year. The firm has also
been re-appointed by Nottingham City Council and has been appointed
by Amcor Flexible UK Ltd to fulfill its UK legal requirements.
The firm recruited 30 additional people this year and headcount
reached 520 for the firm with the Birmingham office reaching 100
for the first time. This means since the opening of their new
office in Victoria Square House in 2005, the Birmingham office has
doubled in size.
Success has also been achieved in other areas with the firm this
year collecting the award for best-managed firm at the MPF 2006
European Practice Management Awards. Additionally, the firm has
collected local law society awards including trainee solicitor of
the year and assistant solicitor of the year.

finals examination.
Charity update
Lynn Woods, Laura Roper and Craig Sharples attended the

of the firms Community Action Committee. The firm has adopted the
hospice as its charity of choice for the year.
