Midlands law firm Browne Jacobson walked off with two awards at
this month’s Nottinghamshire Law Society 2008 Awards.
The East Midlands’ leading law firm won Pro Bono Law Firm of the
Year for an outstanding 12 months during which the firm raised more
than £20,000 for good causes, provided more than £12,000 worth of
free legal advice and professional support and launched Greene
Jacobson, a major firm-wide initiative to help raise awareness of
the need to become more environmentally responsible.
This is the latest in a series of recent successes for the firm
which has included winning The Lawyer HR Award 2008 for its
‘Graduate Trainee Recruitment Campaign’ and the Managing Partners’
Forum European Practice Management Awards for ‘Best Marketing
Campaign’ in 2007 and ‘Best Managed Firm’ in 2006.
Managing Partner Brian Smith said:
“Winning not one but two awards is a tremendous achievement
for the firm. For many years now we have maintained a strong
commitment to providing both free legal advice and actively taking
part in community projects across Nottinghamshire. Most of the work
we do is not high profile but makes an important contribution to
many people’s lives. This award is a tribute to the hard work
undertaken by all our people, particularly members of our Pro Bono
and Community Action Group, who work tirelessly
year-on-year.”
The firm was also presented with the Young Solicitor of the Year
Award.
