case study - Helen Gibbons
reasons why
joined:
I attended an open day which confirmed to me that Browne
Jacobson was the type of law firm that I could see myself working
for. The firm’s impressive reputation for training was also a major
factor in my decision to join Browne Jacobson.
experience gained:
My first seat was in the corporate team. I had a fantastic six
months. I assisted the whole team in a variety of transactions
including setting up new companies, share sales and investments.
Every member of the team was friendly and always had time to answer
my questions. This seat has allowed me to see what life as a
corporate lawyer would be like.
My second seat is in the medical negligence team. I am starting
to develop a practical understanding of the civil litigation
process. My supervisor is keen that I get the opportunity to do a
wide range of work during my six months and that I am not just
given ‘trainee tasks’.
recent
achievements:
- assisting on a completion within a few weeks of joining the
corporate team
- helping out on a multi-million pound share sale/MBO
- flying to Germany on my own for a client meeting
- writing an article for the firm’s health law update which is
sent to clients
- attending a preliminary trial on limitation
