case study - Hayley Roberts
reasons why
joined:
I was looking for a well-known commercial law firm with
high-quality training, a reputation for excellence and friendly
people. The range of work, the calibre of people and the enthusiasm
of existing trainees helped me decide that Browne Jacobson was a
firm I wanted to work for.
experience gained:
During my first seat I provided direct legal advice to clients
ranging from break-clauses, commercial contracts and end of lease
obligations. I attended meetings with clients regarding
construction disputes and boundary issues. I also undertook some
research and drafted several claims, defences and offers to
settle.
I am now in social care and have been given plenty of
responsibility including running care proceedings, being in
frequent contact with clients and helping with seminars on the most
recent legal developments such as the Vetting and Barring Scheme
which places strict legal obligations on people working with
children and vulnerable adults.
recent
achievements:
- attending a trial at the Court of Appeal on the Defective
Premises Act 1972
- attending a high-profile mediation which ultimately resulted in
a favourable settlement for our client
- writing two articles for our health law bulletin on the
proposed adult social care statute and the recently published
autism strategy
