clarity guide to marketing law
Advertising, promotions and packaging have
changed beyond all recognition over the last three decades as a
result of changes in social trends and a rapid increase in
technologies such as the growth of the Internet, digital TV
channels, mobile and handheld devices and a radical change in how
we consume messages and make purchases.
Across the UK and Europe marketing
communications are highly regulated with legislation covering all
forms of messaging and imagery across print and digital
mediums. It is important for all marketers to be aware
of the codes, particularly when working with new media, as well as
the applicable English & European law.
On 26 May 2008, the majority
of marketing legislation with which professionals were previously
familiar, was substantially revised by the introduction of the
Unfair Commercial Practices Directive throughout the European
Union. In the UK, these are the Consumer Protection from
Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 and the Business Protection from
Misleading Marketing Regulations 2008.
To help guide marketing professionals in
understanding these changes, our team of specialist lawyers have
created the ‘Clarity guide to marketing law’. Although no
substitute for bespoke legal advice, the guide offers marketing
professionals practical guidance and advice on the key areas of the
law. We hope you find it useful and please call to
discuss your specific requirments, we would love to hear from
you.
