Ten proves magic number as Browne Jacobson continues to expand

25 September 2008

Browne Jacobson’s growth continues apace with the appointment of ten new fee earners across its three office network.

The firm’s Birmingham office has been particularly active with the appointment of five recruits.

Mark Daniels and Sara McNeill, both from Wragge & Co, have joined the firm’s rated Intellectual Property team of 12 as a Partner and Associate respectively. Mark spent eight years at Wragges where he advised on many contentious IP cases including the two recent widely reported patent cases between Nokia and InterDigital concerning the essentiality of patents to mobile telecommunications standards.

Sara will officially join the team in November after seven years at Wragges. Described as a ‘rising star’ by Legal 500, Sara’s considerable experience spans various IP matters with clients including the MoD, Aston Martin and Marks & Spencer.

Faizal Bhana joins the Banking Team from Hadens Solicitors and Associate Jim Tait who joins Employment from Shakespeare Putsman.

The firm’s London office has appointed Partner Nichola Evans who joins the Business and Professional Risk Team. Nichola, formerly a Partner in the Commercial Litigation Team at DWF, specialises in professional negligence and risk management.

The Nottingham office’s Corporate Team has also been boosted by the arrival of Solicitors Paul McCannah and Clare Carpenter whilst the Commercial Team has added Solicitors Sarah Fellows and James Miles to its growing ranks.

The appointments bring the total number of fee earners at the firm to 272.

Brian Smith, Managing Partner at Browne Jacobson, said:

“We are delighted by all these new appointments. Despite the challenging economic conditions being faced by many in the sector Browne Jacobson is continuing to look for opportunities to expand. Our new recruits will add significant strength in depth to what are already very impressive teams.”
