Browne Jacobson wins place on new London council coalition
14th October 2009
Browne Jacobson has been chosen as one of only 16 law firms
nationally to advise the London Boroughs Legal Alliance (LBLA) - a
new coalition of London councils that have come together to achieve
greater efficiency in the procurement of legal services.
The three year appointment will see the firm provide legal
services to the six councils that make up the LBLA - Camden,
Harrow, Hammersmith & Fulham, Hillingdon and Hounslow LBCs and
Kensington & Chelsea RBC.
The work will cover a number of areas including commercial,
contracts, procurement & outsourcing, housing, PPP and PFI,
property, planning, regeneration and construction litigation.
Under the new alliance the 6 councils will set up a panel of
preferred lawyers, share advice, cut the number of locums and
undertake joint procurement of other legal resources, such as
online knowledge and case management systems.
Dominic Swift, Head of the Public Sector Team at Browne
Jacobson, said :
“This is a major coup for Browne Jacobson and underlines our
truly national public sector practice. With the growing pressure on
local authority budgets it is an arrangement that I am sure will be
looked at very closely by local councils up and down the
country.”
The LBLA is backed by Capital Ambition, a government-funded body
that finances local authority efficiency projects in London.
