Browne Jacobson lawyer crowned winner at Birmingham law society legal awards

Emma Dickson, a lawyer in the Intellectual Property Team at law
firm Browne Jacobson, won Commercial Lawyer of the Year at the
Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards 2008.
Emma, who was presented with her Award by broadcaster and
journalist John Sergeant, beat off stiff competition from lawyers
at Eversheds, Martineau Johnson, Anthony Collins Solicitors and
Buller Jeffries.
Emma advises clients on franchising, brands and other
contentious and non contentious intellectual property
matters. She joined Browne Jacobson in 2007 from
specialist niche franchising firm, Hamilton Pratt.
The judges, who included former
president of the national Law Society, Kevin Martin as well as
Sukhdev Bhomra, president of Birmingham Law Society, praised Emma
for the ‘significant contribution she has made to her chosen
practice area of intellectual property. Since joining the firm Emma
has been seconded to one of the UK’s largest in-house teams,
demonstrating her ability to quickly adapt and impress some of the
leading in-house lawyers in the country.’
The Award caps a remarkable year for Browne
Jacobson during which the firm has also won Pro Bono Law Firm of
the Year and Young Solicitor of the Year Award at the
Nottinghamshire Law Society 2008 Awards and Best Graduate Trainee
Recruitment Campaign at The Lawyer HR Awards 2008.
