regenerating a housing estate
the challenge:
We had three weeks to draft, negotiate, agree and complete a
development and section 106 planning agreement for the regeneration
of a housing estate in Central London. The project was to be
delivered by a local housing association – partially on public
amenity land - over a period of 12 years in several phases. Getting
the agreement completed on time was critical to the provision of
£20m government funding without which the scheme could not
proceed.
our approach:
Due to the tight timescales it was clear that the only way to
achieve the deadline we had been set was to schedule a series of
all parties meetings. We cleared our diaries, took the lead in
drafting and amending the documentation, highlighting outstanding
issues for discussion, and setting meeting agendas designed to
focus on key points.
the results:
We completed the development agreement with time to spare,
securing the funding required to deliver this project and ensuring
that the borough can look forward to a rejuvenated housing estate
with significant new public amenities.
