fast track conversion to trust school status
the challenge:
A community secondary school wanted to formalise its
relationship with four organisations in support of its ‘Every Child
Matters’ programme by obtaining trust school status. To do this for
the start of the next academic year the school’s governing body
needed to move through the statutory process quickly and
precisely.
our approach:
The governing body was guided through the key steps of the
conversion, including the preparation needed for each step and how
to minimise potential delays. The governors therefore felt
confident in the process and were reassured that all interested
parties had been appropriately consulted. Their requirement for a
governance model which safeguarded the school’s control over the
trust but with sufficient flexibility to allow other schools to
join in the future was also implemented.
the results:
Change of category was achieved by the governors in accordance
with the statutory process and with consultation of all interested
parties. The school started the new academic year as a trust school
with the appropriate partners in place to support it and its
educational objectives.
